Where did the name “Sunday Classic” come from?

I am sure you can all tell based on the entire premise of this website, but everything I do has meaning, thought, and value behind it. Most of what I do is because of animals. I will always remember the day, or more so, night I got my first kitten; all black with two beautiful big green eyes. I eventually landed on naming him Batman, I know, so original. I mean for a 6-year-old girl, I’d say it’s pretty unique!

My love of animals stemmed from the gentle soul of Batman and flourished to so many other deserving creatures. I take pride in knowing that my life has been filled with so much unconditional love. Some really take your heart away though, and my first horse, Chester, was one of those. Chester was his barn name and he was once considered to be destined for the race track. Many thoroughbred horses found that to be the path their lives took, but only a few would see their lives like Secretariat. Around the race track, Chester would have been known as Sunday Classic, which, if you ask me, might have a lot to do with why my chestnut-red thoroughbred was not destined to become a racehorse at all. You see, Chester only enjoyed running slowly.

When you think of a classic Sunday morning, you’re picturing a cup of joe on the porch watching church-goers pass by, or spending the day snuggling with furry companions. Just like an easy-going Sunday reset, Chester only ran to his heart’s desire which was always smooth and steady. Chester, A.K.A. Sunday Classic inspired many of my classic Sundays running in wide open fields and hearing the crunch of him chewing on blades of grass. It is this moment, this connection that inspires the goals and dreams of Sunday Classic Photo Company. A photo company that aspires to foster education, encourage compassion, and create connections.
